Latest Updates from Our Project:

Another stretch goal down!
9 months ago – Mon, Feb 12, 2024 at 12:38:56 PM

Happy Monday y'all!

Time for a quick, top of the week update since today marks two significant milestones:

  1. The first week of our campaign has flown by!
  2. We are more than 150% funded, which means we've hit another stretch goal!

This means that everyone on our team, our guest writers included, get a cozy little bonus for their work! Next on the horizon is an upgrade to the quality of our cover from the standard finish to a matte-laminated cover with a little more of a premium feel. This is the same cover finish that we used for Terminus and I was very satisfied with the results on that front.

We also reached out to our guest writers this week to start sorting out our timeline for their maps, and I'm very excited to hear their pitches.

If you want to check out some live plays of the game this week, I'll be livestreaming I Crave the Loop on both of my weekly Twitch streams! I'll be live at 5pm CST tonight and 3pm CST on Thursday, and you can always catch the VoDs after the fact.

I think that's all I've got for today! We're so grateful for all the support y'all have shown us this week, and we're hard at work over here teasing I Crave the Loop into the most awesome version it can be. None of this would be possible without you, and we're so excited to see the game in print.

Cheers,

Jon

Kickstarter Roundup and a Friday checkin
9 months ago – Fri, Feb 09, 2024 at 11:33:52 AM

Hey all!

As of this morning we are sitting at 69 backers (nice), which puts us around 140% funded! We're cruising right up towards our next stretch goal at the 3k mark, at which point our whole team gets a bonus. It's been an exciting first few days, and we're deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us so far.

Speaking of support, I'd love to spotlight some other Zine month projects that are currently funding or are launching soon! Check these projects out and share some Zine month love by backing or sharing their campaigns! First up, some currently funding projects:

The Details of Our Escape, by Possible Worlds Games

The Details of Our Escape is a stunning collaboration between award-winning game designer Tyler Crumrine, comics artist Linnea Sterte, and multidisciplinary author Renee Gladman. A three-way fusion of creative talents, the game is one part artbook, one part speculative fiction, and all parts inspired game design.

One of a few tabletop games that feature dominos, you and your friends are shepherds to a caravan of more than 2000 displaced people in search of a new home. What dangers do they face on the road? What beauty will they find on the way? What do they leave behind, and what can they look forward to? That's between you, fate, and those precious few who have escaped.

The Details of Our Escape is also, as of my writing, 86% funded, right on the home stretch of funding! Tyler's games are always excellent, I can't recommend this one enough.

Your Friend in Witchcraft, Kay Allen

Your Friend in Witchcraft is a letter-writing game for two players. As you and a friend play through the game and exchange letters, you'll tell a compelling and creative story about how magic spreads, how leaders grow, and how people change.

Marx, our lovely editor, recommended this project to me earlier this week and I was immediately enchanted with the art and concept. I'm very excited to play this post-crowdfunding. After Terminus, our tarot-powered storytelling game last year, I'm always on the lookout for other games that rely on the tarot for prompting. The campaign is already fully funded, so you're guaranteed a reward!

What's My Motivation? By Runic Press

What's My Motivation takes you on a journey of self-discovery with this character-building system for tabletop games, novels, and other fictional settings. Navigate through your character's Past, Present, and Future. Become a better storyteller, improve party dynamics, and increase story engagement with thoughtful prompts and deeper, more complex characters for your TTRPGs.

"What's My Motivation?" is system agnostic and can be a fantastic tool for GMs (NPCs and Villains) and Players (PCs) alike. Dive deep into character creation and perhaps learn a little about yourself along the way. Or try it as a solo-journaling experience!

I tend to have a few very granular ideas about my characters for stories and tabletop games alike, but that often leaves some pretty big holes in my character design. I'm always on the lookout for tools like this to help me get to know my beloved characters and NPCs a little better. WMM is also already funded, so you're guaranteed a reward here!

Upcoming Campaigns:

Outliers: The Award-winning solo TTRPG of Weird Research, By Samantha Leigh

Outliersis a single-player tabletop roleplaying game.Using a notebook, a deck of playing games, a six-sided die, a handful of tokens, and a tumbling block tower, you'll explore how to conduct a normal research job when you're constantly stymied by the paranormal.

Anything with Sam Leigh and the Far Horizons Co-op in the by-line is cause for me to take a closer look, and I'm VERY excited to see this campaign go live next week.

100% Modern Ghosts, by B Marsollier

100% Modern Ghosts asks us to remember that feeling of paranormal wonderment we felt as a child, then imagine that the answer to every "Is there a ghost under my bed/in my closet/haunting the playground" was "unequivocally yes."

Hearkening back to playing scary games at childhood slumber parties, you'll spend your time in 100% Modern Ghosts mythologizing the mundane as part of the Bureau of Occult Observation (BoOO). Identify and journal about ghosts that hide in day to day life and assist in the bureaus documentation of everyday spectres.

It should come as no surprise after Terminus, but I'm always a sucker for a paranormal journaling game. VERY excited to check this one out when it goes live next week!

That's it for this week y'all! I'll see you again on Monday at the latest, or this weekend if we cruise past our current stretch goal.

Cheers,

1st Stretch Goal Met!
9 months ago – Tue, Feb 06, 2024 at 11:48:44 AM

A very good 2nd afternoon of funding everyone!

I'm delighted to report that we hit our first stretch goal this morning, so go ahead and give a warm welcome to Rachel Billings and Spencer Campbell! Bri and I will be reaching out to them this week to get the business end of things squared away so that we can get to the fun part: Whatever  shenanigans they've got in store for us in their guest maps!

Our next stop is at $3k, where our team will get a bonus for their hard work, and not far ahead of that is an upgrade to the cover! I'm very excited to see where the rest of the week takes us, but in the mean time, enjoy one of my very own household CREATURES, sleepy after his FEAST last night:

Thank you so much for getting us off to such an explosive start yesterday, and I'll see y'all at our next stretch goal!

Cheers,

Jon and Bri <3

Funding Goal reached!
9 months ago – Mon, Feb 05, 2024 at 06:02:23 PM

It's been a whirlwind afternoon but we are ALREADY 103% funded y'all! We cruised right past the 75% mark straight up to our goal while I was streaming the game this afternoon. If you'd like to watch me become a puddle in real time, check below:

Next stop: Stretch goals!

Our first stretch goal (About $240 away at this point) is some amazing guest maps by Rachel Billings of the OP and Spencer Campbell of GilaRPGs! I'm hopeful we'll get there this evening but regardless, I think we have some excellent guest maps to look forward to in our near future.

I will also be streaming playtests of the game this week if you want to stop by! The next stream will at 3:00pm on Thursday on my Twitch channel.

Have an excellent evening everyone, and thank you so much! I'm excited to see where the next few weeks take us.

Cheers,

Jon and Bri <3
