On to Art and Layout! Backerkit surveys soon!
6 months ago – Mon, May 13, 2024 at 03:02:12 PM

Happy Monday everyone!

I've got some great news this week: The game is text complete! That means Marx and I have finished tinkering with the draft and it's time to pass things on to Emily and Bri for art and layout. This is one of the most exciting stages of the process, as we get to watch the game go from black text on a white G doc to a colorful, ready-to-play book!

In terms of campaign logistics, keep an eye out this week for emails from BackerKit. Now that the book is closer to completion, I'll be preparing post-campaign surveys and pre-orders. As a reminder, we'll be using BackerKit to collect shipping charges.

Here's the order of operations for the next month or two:

  • We set up BackerKit while the book goes through layout.
  • An initial smoke test of BackerKit surveys  (A few people will receive these first to confirm the survey is working).
  • All BackerKit surveys go out. You will be able add items to your pledge if you want. Physical edition backers will be charged for shipping.
  • Surveys and pre-orders are locked, we charge shipping fees.
  • We print labels, stuff envelopes, and send the game to you!

We'll send out surveys around the time that we're ready to order books, that way there isn't too much of a delay between us charging you for shipping and sending the books to you.

For our art commission tier backers, I'll work on getting you in touch with Bri for your commission soon!

That's it for today! I'll continue to post updates as we move forward with printing and fulfilling I Crave the Loop.

Cheers,

Jon and Bri <3

Writing Complete! On to Editing.
7 months ago – Fri, Apr 05, 2024 at 11:50:50 AM

Hey all!

It's been a pretty quiet month over here thanks to some health issues (Drink lots of water folks, kidney stones are not fun). However: I've finished the stretch goal maps and some final additions to the game, which means the draft is completely ready to turn over to my editor! Bri has been hard at work on art, so art and layout should be pretty swift once we've finished getting all the right words in all the right places.

In terms of post-campaign logistics, our rough plan is to send out Backerkit surveys when we reach the layout stage. I'll send out another update here, and you'll get an update from Backerkit when that happens so that we can charge for shipping. By the time those are rounded up, we should have a pretty little zine in hand to send out to you! Our rough estimate of fulfillment in June/July looks to be on track, but we'll keep you apprised if anything changes.

In the mean time, have a lovely April, and I'll see you with more news soon!

Cheers,

Jon

268% Funded!!!
8 months ago – Tue, Mar 05, 2024 at 05:12:57 PM

Hello and a very happy Tuesday to y'all!

The campaign ended this evening at a staggering 268% funded! We're all incredibly grateful for y'alls support this month, and we're very, very excited to make our print run of I Crave the Loop a reality. Between the cover upgrades, extra maps, and guest writers, it's gonna be a schnazzy little zine!

I wrote more about where the zine is at in the production process in yesterday's update, so I don't have much to add on that front other than that I'll be working on our stretch goal maps this week on my stream. I'll likely be passing the draft off to my editor to begin the editing process in the next week or two while I finish those up. We'll keep you posted on that front, but for now Bri and I will be taking a much-needed breather.

Thank you again to everyone who backed and shared the campaign this month, we couldn't have done it without you!

Cheers,

Jon and Bri

The Dawn of the Final (Funding) day!
8 months ago – Mon, Mar 04, 2024 at 01:34:50 PM

Hey All!

I hope your week is off to an excellent start! We've got some great news heading into the home stretch of our funding period:

Stretch Goals

Last week we hit a stretch goal for another team bonus, which I'm absolutely thrilled about. Additionally, we're just a few backers away from our next stretch goal for 4 additional maps! I'm pretty excited to see if we cruise past that one, because I've got some pretty fun ideas for those. It would also put us at a total of 12(!!!) maps to play on with the base game, including our guest writers.

There's a little more than 24 hours left as of my writing this, so I'm excited to see where we land!

Zine Progress

Outside of the possibility of additional maps, the draft of the game is ready for editing! I'll be passing it along to my editor this week for the first big pass at it. I already have a rough draft of one of our guest maps already that we're polishing, with another coming soon. From this point on we'll be revising the zine and working on additional art for a while, then passing it on to Emily for final layout design and sneaking in some secrets for you to find :>

Have a great Monday y'all, and I'll see you tomorrow evening when the campaign wraps!

Cheers,

Jon and Bri <3

Cover Upgrade Achieved, On the Home Stretch!
8 months ago – Mon, Feb 26, 2024 at 11:02:17 AM

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope your week is off to an excellent start! Here's a quick check-in from Bright Bard Games HQ with a little update on our progress.

Stretch Goals

1st of all, we cruised past our upgraded cover stretch goal this week which means that I Crave the Loop will be FEASTing and FLEEing in style with a premium, matte-laminated cover. We're trekking towards our next team bonus at a steady clip and I'm hopeful we can hit those extra maps by the end of the campaign!

Guest Maps

On the guest writer front, I've chatted with both Ray and Spencer about their map concepts and I'm really excited for both of them. Ray is working on a convention-center themed map, while Spencer has an absolutely rad concept for a grad-school-gone-weird psych study map.

That's it for today, have a great week y'all!

Cheers,

Jon and Bri
